Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB-USA) Mission:

EWB-USA partners with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through the implementation of environmentally and economically sustainable engineering projects while developing internationally responsible engineering students and professionals.

EWB, a 501 c (3) charitable organization has a proven track record of working with developing communities worldwide, and experienced non-governmental organizations (NGOs). EWB’s effectiveness has become widely known in the U.S.

In 2009, EWB Chicagoland Professional Chapter (EWB-CPC) partnered with an experienced and successful NGO, Heart to Honduras (HTH) to complete a pedestrian bridge in Armenta, Honduras. HTH has set up its headquarters in this region and for over 20 years has been serving them by providing agricultural training, cooking and sewing classes, economic development opportunities and spiritual encouragement. This year, EWB-CPC will continue to gain assistance from HTH, as the Chapter begins work on their latest humanitarian effort to construct a vehicle bridge that would connect the people of Canchias, Honduras with valuable agricultural land, as well as with a dairy that has been developed recently through grants by the Rotary Foundation.
